Reimbursement, in short

With reimbursement, you pay the full cost of the visit yourself at the time of treatment, then submit a claim to your insurance provider afterward (sometimes the clinic gives you the paperwork to do this; sometimes you handle it entirely yourself). Your insurer reimburses you directly, which can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks depending on your provider.

Why the difference matters
